The Original Ultimate Spinner is made in Maine by Robbins Toys and is 12 games in one. When I first read the words “ultimate spinner” I figured this game would be all about the spinner. A bunch of games, same spinner. I was lucky enough to get an Ultimate Spinner to review.
I really had no idea what they meant by ultimate, until I opened the box.

I was floored when I saw the spinner. It should actually be written SPINNER! Wow!
The first thing I noticed was how big the spinner actually is. It is made out of pine and is at least 1″ thick and 12″ around! The spinner arm is huge and made of wood as well and is shaped like a hand, with the pointer finger as the arrow head. The different games are played by using one of the five 2-sided activity discs and in some instances, some of the additional assorted game pieces.
So far we have had a lot of fun playing these games, although I admit that the bowling and the Spinner Speedway game are our favorites. We haven’t even played all of the games yet, but we will, especially considering Jake asks to play it all the time! Personally, I could play the bowling game all day!
The box says the games are for ages “4 to…too old to remember” and I would say that is pretty accurate. The three of us have played together and had a lot of fun. I’m positive the Ultimate Spinner will remain a family favorite.
Here are some photos of the games:
What I really like about this game is the variety. In just one box you get so many fun games, some of them even get you up and moving around. The spinner, being made out of wood is very durable, and with proper care, the rest of the accessories will stand up to time as well. They are a heavy card stock and so long as they are stored properly and handled normally, they should hold up. The only suggestion I would have are for the clock hands. They are made of the card stock but I really wish they were more durable. Because they are a teaching tool, and kids are likely to handle and move them around the spinner, I’m not sure they will hold up as well. In fact, one of ours is already creased. If they would have been made out of wood, it would have been perfect!
Here is a shot of Jake about to spin the hand spinner:

Overall this is a great set of games. They are colorful, educational, fun for all ages, and offer a great variety in just a single box. The game sells for $65.95 + $10 for shipping, and at first I was a bit taken aback at the price. But then I started to think about it. A SINGLE board game, made of cardboard and plastic is easily over $10 these days. A trip to the movies for a family of 4 for just a couple of hours is easily $50. People spend $50 on a single video game and have you ever seen how much Pay-Per-View charges to watch a boxing match?
With that in mind, the Original Ultimate Spinner comes packed with games for kids of all ages, provides hours of entertainment, is bright and colorful, and has enough variety to keep everyone in the family entertained. I think that is a lot of value in a small box!
