Kids love stickers. Mine loves to stick stickers in places that they don’t belong. One thing I’ve noticed, though, is that he really doesn’t care if he personally ’stuck’ the sticker, he likes the idea of just having a sticker on something. I don’t know if it’s the creative part of him that wants to add his own personal touch, or just more of a control thing where he likes to be able to change something, or some other reason I can’t even fathom. Whatever his motivation, from address labels to Chiquita Banana sticker that comes on our bananas, he does not discriminate. If it sticks, he likes it.
The other day we received a great package in the mail from Stuck on You. Stuck on You has a wide variety of stick-on labels designed with the purpose of “helping parents to organize their hectic households”.
Here is a slide show of what we received:
As you can see from the samples, Stuck on You has a very wide range of label sizes and styles that will suit just about any use you could think of. They have a ton of colors and designs as well. Stuck on You sent some personalized labels with Jacob’s name on them for us to try. We received the 2″ jumbo dot labels. All of their sticky labels are made out of vinyl, and get this – they are dishwasher and microwave safe!
The first place we tried one of the labels on was Jacob’s tote bag that he uses for preschool. I had written his name in marker on the inside of the bag, but only his first name. The first thing I noticed about the labels is that they are thicker than regular stickers and don’t come off the backing as easy as regular sticker. This seemed to be the nature of the vinyl, since vinyl is more pliable and is merely an observation, not a complaint! Holding the label before applying it, it even felt different. I applied it, smoothed it out and it looks fantastic and has held up to a few days worth of rough and tumble treatment. I have no doubt this label will stay on his bag for a long time!
Here’s a picture:

Now, when I read that something has a certain unique characteristic that you wouldn’t expect it to have, such as these labels being microwave and dishwasher safe, it is in my blood to want to test it. Push the boundaries, if you will. So, the next use of one of the labels was on one of Jacob’s spill proof cups. I applied the label, and because the cup was sort of hourglass shaped and curved, I did have to smooth it out some because the label sort of bubbled where the cup changed shape. The label smoothed out very well and all the bubbles and wrinkles disappeared to ensure the entire label stuck to the cup.
Here’s a before shot, prior to putting it in the dishwasher:

And here’s an after shot:

I ran the dishwasher with a pre-wash, added heat, and heated dry and the label looked as good as it had when I first put it on. Even Jake was impressed!
Stuck on You really does seem to have a label for any occasion, including pre-printed “allergy-free” labels to alert people of nut, egg or dairy allergies. But my favorite item from their site are the “Stick with Me” wrist bands. These wrist bands are made of durable translucent plastic and are a wonderful safety item for trips, outings, and even Halloween Trick or Treating. These brilliant bands have a space where you can write the child’s name and a contact phone number in case the child gets lost.
